Linking your NameThatUrl.com domain's Email Accounts to your web site hosted on Wix.com


In this example, the domain name (cupidstailgate.com) was purchased on NameThatUrl.com, but instead of also purchasing web hosting on NameThatUrl.com (which is also very affordable), the customer instead preferred to do their web hosting on Wix.com.


This example shows how to set up Email Addresses which are included with the (cupidstailgate.com) domain so that they can be managed on the Wix.com service.


Note: This example assumes the customer has already purchased a domain name (cupidstailgate.com in this case) and has set its Name Servers to that of the external web hosting service (ns1.wix.com and ns2.wix.com in this case).


I.- Locate the MX Entries for your domain name (cupidstailgate.com)

A.- Register and/or Login to your account on NameThatUrl.com (the Login link is in the upper right hand corner of the page).

B.
- Click on “My Account” in the upper right hand corner to access your Domain Control Panel:

- From the Domain Control Panel, choose Manage Orders-> List/Search Orders to locate the domain name whose Email you wish to configure:

D.
- Choose the domain name you wish to manage (cupidstailgate.com in this example):

- Click the Email link to scroll the page down to the Email section, then click on the Manage Email link:

- From the Manage Email popup page, Mouse over the Mail heading and choose the “DNS Configuration” link under the Mail sub-heading:



G.- Copy the Cname and TXT records below as well (1-6) for later use:

- Also copy the MX Entry settings on the DNS Configuration page and store them for later use:

II.- Setting the MX Entry records on the external hosting site (wix.com in this example)

A.- Register and/or Login to your account on Wix.com

B.- Click on My Account to manage your Wix account:

D.- Access your external Domain Manager (Wix.com, as detailed in the instructions above) and you should see a page similar to this – Click on “Change Email (MX Records)” :


E.- Using “Other” for you Email Provider, enter the values shown here for your MX Records (then take a 24 hour coffee break – the MX records will take a while to propagate across the internet..) :


F.- After waiting 24 hours, you will be ready to complete the email settings. Enter the remaining 6 values into the external web hosting facility. Here is what the final screen settings look like on Wix.com :


III.- Creating Email Accounts

Last, but not least, with a Virtual Synthesis Email server set up from NameThatUrl.com, you are ready to create your Email accounts for your Wix.com web site! The following steps will help you by walking you through the process of creating the email address: info@cupidstailgate.com.

A.- Login to your account on NameThatUrl.com (the Login link is in the upper right hand corner of the page).

B.- Click on “My Account” in the upper right hand corner to access your Domain Control Panel.

C.
Type in the name of your domain in the “Jump to Domain” field and click the arrow beneath this field:

D.- Click the Email link to scroll the page down to the Email section, then click on the Manage Email link (see above section to review how this is done).

E.
- From the Manage Email popup page, Mouse over the Mail heading and choose the “Add User” link under the Mail sub-heading:

F.- To Add a new Email User, simply fill out the mandatory fields on the form and press the “Add User” button:


G.- Congratulations! Your new Email user is now successfully created. Your new webmail URL - shown here - is but one way you can use to access your new Email account. The following screen shows a sample email user session – be sure to copy the password (hidden under the blue rectangle in this screen shot), then Click the webmail link to automatically login and test your new Email account:


H.- Your webmail link is composed of the word “webmail” - dot - <your domain name> (which translates to http://webmail.cupidstailgate.com in this case). Try logging in to test your new Email account:



I.- If you forgot to copy the automatically generated password which was displayed in the previous Add Email User screen, then you can either click on the “forgot password” link to initiate a password reset, or you can instead simply use the “Manage Users/Accounts” feature to reset the password. See the following step for a demo of this feature:

- Select an Email user account to manage by clicking on the Edit link to the far right of the user id:
